I'm very happy to have seen the great job someone did when they were able to buy it the following year, a your pictures show).

My understanding is that the house was moved in the 1970's, as the bank on Main St was built where the house was, when they bought the property they offered the house up for free to anyone who could move it, and it was moved to the plot on Bedell.

The book mentions the chimney being tilted to prevent witches coming in, but the book was also published after the move (it mentions the move taking place in 1972), so not hard proof that the chimney was original to the house. Recently, I was asking my aunt, Lois Hartman, nee Beierling, who grew up in Farmingdale, NY, about the Danish side of our family. She wrote, "My great grandfather was a sailor. I don't know his birthplace - in fact, when Barbara Ludwig tried to trace the Berg ancestors in Denmark way back, she couldn't find anyone earlier. I have a picture of Albert Berg's father - a handsome fellow - named Theodore Hansen Berg, I believe." Other family lore describes that side as coming from Hempstead and/or East Meadow. Do you have better genealogical information for me? Thanks so much in advance! - Alex (alexandraberrie@gmail.com)Ms. Lexiconhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06786974240841741847noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-608280292860999393.post-66934230417714006092017-09-12T16:46:38.251-04:002017-09-12T16:46:38.251-04:00Hello, I have enjoyed your posts on genealogy.
